BART Castro Valley Station

Design of a signature BART station integrating form, function, and connectivity

Castro Valley station entrance

The Castro Valley BART Station features a platform set in the highway median above an underground concourse, which connects to a small amphitheater-shaped plaza and provides convenient access to buses and parking. Designed by Robin Chiang, the station reflects the community’s wish for a sense of history by blending architectural elements from different eras into a cohesive, contemporary design—creating a space that felt both new and familiar from the moment it opened.
