Robin Chiang & Company (RCC) was commissioned for the planning and architectural design of 4200 housing units, sports club, hotel and commercial center for a former farm property on the outskirts of Sophia, Bulgaria. RCC proposed a development with varying densities of housing. At its core RCC proposed an open market plaza with a bus stop and commercial center with housing over retail. Nearby would be a hotel, sports club and apartment buildings. Farther away would be flats and cluster housing.

This was the first privately sponsored large scale housing project in the area so local planning authorities wanted a conservative approach to design. RCC researched traditional Bulgarian architecture and used it to inform the appearance of the development. Planning approval was granted within 6 months.

RCC wrote design guidelines for local architects who would complete the designs. Infrastructure construction began in 2010. Recently the owner contacted RCC to review the work by local architects and make recommendations to enhance the identity of the development.
