Millbrae BART/Caltrain Station Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Master Plan
Republic Millbrae LLC hired Robin Chiang & Company (RCCo) for the planning and design of a mixed used development at the Millbrae Intermodal Terminal, an at-grade Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Caltrain station. The station is also a regional bus transit hub with multiple bus bays served by several SamTrans lines.
Situation entirely on BART property, the development comprises approximately 300 residential units, 120 hotel units, 170,000 square feet of office and 70,000 square feet of retail facilities and open space and parking. The development engages the elevated portion of Millbrae Avenue with direct access to its residential podium and creates a new downtown promenade with a retail lane between Rollins Road and the entrance to the BART station.
RCCo authored the initial master plan for the TOD and has overseen the planning of the development on various parcels, paying special attention to the connectivity between the rail station and its transportation infrastructure with a new public realm plan and the surrounding community.
