RCC proposed Festival Plaza outside a new train station where there will be a combination of indoor and shaded outdoor facilities including visitor reception and service, exhibit areas, cafes and shops, guest houses and worker housing.

In this 2008 project, Robin Chiang & Company (RCC) was commissioned by EDAW to assist in planning a new town on the outskirts of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Convention Area Mecca

The Convention Area with commercial and retail components is integrated with transportation facilities

The goal was to develop the architectural components as a guide for the consultant architects, HOK.  The architectural character is based on desert traditions and incorporates passive climate controls and reinforces the heritage of Mecca.  The new station and ancillary facilities have a construction budget of $600 million.
