Holloway Terrace, BRIDGE Housing’s first San Francisco development, is located in the Ingleside district at Holloway and Faxon Streets. The development occupies the site of a demolished school and was financed by a low-interest bond which supported first-time home buyers,

Completed in 1985, the forty-two townhouses have two bedrooms and bathrooms, fireplaces, private patios and attached garages. A separate community center serves social activities on the densely built property. The entrance to one of the private patios is shown above.

Architect David Baker designed Holloway Terrace in a simplified Mediterranean style that harmonizes with the modestly scaled neighborhood houses. The use of a single color and tile roofs along with a horizontal molding, visible above at the top of the first story, which wraps around the compound unifies the composition.

The excellent photos illustrate how BRIDGE has led the way demonstrating that high quality architecture and contextual design can be achieved with affordability.
